Movie Recommendation for Parents of Teens

Well, I have a fabulous movie recommendation for parents of teens to go and see with their teen- Juno.

This movie has just about every angle for a great discussion.  And better yet, not much needs to be said.  This movie is NOT for young teens or parents who are in the place that sex, teen dating, relationships, adoption, abortion, condoms, birth control, dysfunctional families make you nervous or are taboo.  There are some heavy scenes and topics.  For anyone with any doubts, first go see it alone and you decide. 

And this is going down as one of my all time favorite movies!  We need a brave, smart, resilient girl character that is not perfect, makes mistakes, and is resourceful, creative and hopeful with all the blemishes.  I can just imagine the sequel.  My 16 year old daughter says it is also her favorite.  Now that in itself is remarkable...  we are both on the same page about a movie!

This movie is a winner!

Time for a date night with your teen!  And the pop corn is on you!

Getting comfortable being uncomfortable...  This parenting gig is forever.  It is never over.

Staying Alive As A Parent of a Teen...

With all the great highs of parenting teens and with all the challenges and learning, I believe our number one job as parents is to inspire our children.  At some point in your relationship with your teen and older child, they shift their focus and start to listen and search for answers outside the home and away from you.  That is when it becomes even more important to live a meaningful, inspired life.  It is at this point that our actions really speak louder than words.  It is really about who you are being in your life while you are doing your life.  Our kids are watching...  I work with parents to wake up and focus back onto them so they can be all they are meant to be.  Our children will be leaving at some point... 

• Will you have a life that you love? or enjoy? or even like?? 
• Will you be able to inspire you? 
• Will you be that person that you want your child to respect and return to in a mature relationship?
