Just what IS a blog?

A blog (short for weblog) is essentially a web site of frequently-updated content arranged chronologically.

A blog's content is often focused on a particular subject area. The focus of this blog is parenting wisdom condensed into manageable, practical, easy to grasp concepts and tools to grab and begin using immediately in your family and busy life.

What sets blogs apart from other kinds of web sites? Ease of use! It's simple for the blog's author (the "blogger") to add their own content (stories, images, even audio and video), even if they are less -than-technically inclined. It's even easier for the blog's readers to participate by adding their own comments.

How does the reader know when a blog has new articles or stories?

1. You can subscribe to an "RSS Feed": You can add the feed from Drive Through Parenting Wisdom by clicking on the orange button on the sidebar of this page labeled "Subscribe to this blog's feed." It will take you to a web page that offers you multiple feedreaders such as My Yahoo, NewsGator Online, Sage, Safari, NetNewsWire, Pluck, Bloglines etc.

Just click on your preferred feedreader button (or select it from the drop down bar if your button isn’t there) and you will be taken through the steps to add the blog URL to your webpage. You just need to visit your feedreader webpage regularly to remain updated with the latest posts.

2. You can sign up in the FeedBlitz sign up box (where it says "Subscribe Me") on this site's sidebar by entering your email address. You will receive an email notifying you every time a new entry is posted. You will need to confirm your subscription and ensure that your spam filter is set to permit this email to be forwarded to your Inbox.

If I've touched on a topic here at Drive Through Parenting Wisdom that strikes a chord with you, I invite you to join in the conversation and share your thoughts by leaving a comment. I also encourage you to share the address for this blog (http://www.drivethroughparentingwisdom.com) with other parents.
